Movie Review: The Preacher’s Son

Movie review

Bishop T.K. Wilson, his wife & two children are a respectable family in their community – Yet the Wilson kids are fighting temptations & their son Dante has thoughts other than taking over his fathers church.

The Preacher’s Son is  redemption, hypocrisy, forgiveness, un-forgiveness, hope, judgement, and despair all rolled into one beautiful story.  This is a must see movie for all Christians, especially those who struggle with worrying about what other persons think. It is a cautionary tale for Churches and Christians all over the globe.  I honestly do not know where to start with this one, but one thing I know is the movie hit the nail on the head.

The Preacher's Son is redemption, hypocrisy, forgiveness, un-forgiveness, hope, judgement, and despair…

Movie Review: The Preacher’s Son

Helen Baylor penned a song a few years ago “don’t let our wounded soldiers die” and it would do us all good to remember that.  This movie reminds us that:

  • There is not one perfect person in any Church (not even those who they they are)
  • The Church is a hospital and not a social club
  • We all need forgiveness at one time or the other
  • Those who dwell in glass houses should not throw stones (although sometimes they throw the largest stones)
  • He whom the son sets free is free indeed
  • We should not be so overly concerned about what human beings think about is when we are doing God’s work
  • We are not defined by our past mistakes
  • The heart wants what the heart wants
  • Sometimes life deals us some hard blows but all is not lost
  • You are never too far gone for redemption
  • We do not need permission from mere mortals to be redeemed
The Church is a hospital and not a social club

I almost did not finish watching this movie.  I was so annoyed with what I saw at the very beginning that  I paused it and came to my computer.  Only to see a facebook post from a very good friend saying this movie is a must watch.  I am glad I listened and finished watching.  I am always amazed at how God works.

You thought I was worth saving!
