Find Blogging Ideas That Appeal To Your Readers
So often I hear persons say they do not know what to write about but blogging ideas are all around us. As bloggers we have to think like a journalist and realize that the world is our “ideas” platform, so we must pay close attention at all times.
I do not leave home without my notepad and pen. On the off chance that I do, I find a way to record things I see happening around me, even if I have to send a message or email to myself. Every encounter is a potential post, every news story is a way to find a new topic and every conversation is a blog post waiting to happen.
So where do you find inspiration? how do you figure out what to write on any given day? I have so many blog ideas written down I struggle with deciding which one to use when I am ready to post. The trick is not to wait until you are sitting down to try to come up with the blog topic. Instead, see every encounter as a potential topic.
Apart from having a notepad and pen in my handbag, I have another on my night stand and one near to the couch where I watch television. If I am in bed and an idea comes to me, I grab my pen and pad and I write it down. Later on I can fine tune this and figure out the angle I want to take. The important thing is to record the potential post until you are ready to use it.
I also find inspiration when I am watching television – and boy do I watch television! If you are going to use this as an inspiration, then it is important to watch a variety of programs. That way your ideas are not skewed; there is a little bit of everything to share with your readers. I have gotten a lot of ideas by watching CBS in the mornings before work as well as The Doctor Oz Show. One popular post I did about the death of the white handkerchief came about when I was watching a movie on Netflix called the Intern. So don’t limit yourself, inspiration is all around us!
Just simply talking to persons on a daily basis, I find great blogging ideas. It is amazing what you can find when you start looking; when you start paying close attention to things and people around you, blogging ideas will flow unabated.
Do you read a lot? Well pay attention whether you are reading a book or a magazine. Does something spark your interest and you want to learn more about it? Then jot that down as another possible blog post.
Most persons now have a smart phone that comes with a myriad of record keeping tools. Use every possible tool to make sure you always have an adequate amount of things to write about.
As I said before, the best thing to do is to keep a list of blog topics handy. That way when you sit down to write, you already have a list and all you have to do is select the most appropriate one.
