Welcome back to the third and final installment of starting a profitable WordPress blog with Bluehost.   If you have not checked out Part 1 and Part 2 of this series please  do so if you need to, then come right back.  We will be right here waiting for you!  Remember you can save a few bucks by signing up through this post.

Profitable WordPress Blog

Now we are going to log into our admin panel with the information given by Bluehost.   If you did not change the complicated password generated, then you might want to change it now to something easier to remember.  You are also free to keep this password but be sure to record it in a safe place.   Once you log in, it will take you to a page that looks like the page below or similar

You will need to edit all of these items before starting.  Be sure to give your site a Title as well as a Site Description (Tagline)

Whatever name you have selected will appear after Let’s Launch.  In order to get a front page that shows all your updates, it is important to select YES at this point (highly suggested).  Unless of course you want a static front page.

Select what visitors will see on your home page which would be most recent news or updates.  This could also be static welcome if that is what you selected further up.

Click on the customize link to finish customizing your site the way you would like it to be.

At some point you will need to connect to WordPress.com (free WordPress).  If you had the free version of WordPress you already have an account, just make sure you are logged on.  You will need this to connect to Jetpack and Akismet.  These are very important as they help to show certain widgets and stop a great deal of Spam.

Other things to add to your site as time goes by include:

  1. Onpage SEO (Yoast is suggested)
  2. Widgets
  3. Plugins

If you have questions about this and any of the other installments, please share them in the comments section.   Do come back as I will walk you through how to complete a blog post with correct onsite SEO, widgets, plugins and other things that will help to create a profitable WordPress blog.

Just wondering how much you earn with ads, let’s say per 1k views? Would be good to know if it’s worth the effort

Well it depends on what each ad is paying. I just started using adsense actually. I make more with my affiliate links like Bluehost and Shareasale.

It’s worth it but I have to tell you there is a lot of work involved especially at the beginning. I make enough to cover my expenses associated with the blog so I am not losing any money. It is pretty much $65 per year and you can quickly make that back
