It’s official! pole dancing is no longer in the closet.  Historically pole dancing has been associated with strip clubs and nightclubs but this has changed drastically in the last few years.

It is no secret that many women and men are now embracing this as a great way to get in shape.  This is a full body conditioning exercise that can change your body in a short time.

Pole dancing classes are popping up in fitness centers across America, Australia, and the United Kingdom because pole dancing is a fun, physically demanding form of exercise that can make you feel fit and sexy at the same time.   This form of exercise is centered around a vertical burlesque pole and combines dance and acrobatics

  2. I have heard that pole dancing is a great workout, which explais why more classes have been popping up over the years and becoming more accessible. I know that whole-body strength definitely comes into play to do those cool tricks!

    I think pole dancing can be a beautiful sport to watch. It all depends on the dancer and his/her performance. It’s almost like an acrobatic activity with how strong you have to be to perform it well!

    Pole Dancing is such a great skill & I agree that the sport requires great strength & flexibility to do it. I just love that there are lot of benefits on trying it out, not sure if my body would have that flexibility to try it!

    I actually took a pole fitness class before and omg! Mad respect to those who do that for a profession because I couldn’t walk for a week! Definitely a great workout!

    I have heard only good things about pole dancing from those that do it for exercise. Pole dancing would indeed be great for burning of the calories. I didn’t know that it would make getting to sleep easier but it does make sense. It would be fun to try it with my sisters. Thanks for sharing the information.

  32. Pole dancing is awesome! I’ve done it at a few bachelorette parties. I considered trying it for excersizes but a few places near me were fairly pricey.

  34. Yes, I would love to give this a try! I need to first build up my upper body strength. I heard upper body strength is important with this exercise. I did however do the chair dancing exercise. Thanks for sharing!

      Daria, I am doing it so I can build up my upper body. It is very weak as I tend to focus more on my lower body

  35. I love the idea of pole dancing and have the utmost respect for people who can actually do it! The strength and conditioning needed to be able to do this well is unbelievable. It doesn’t have a negative connotation for me, but then again I’ve never been to a strip club? lol

  39. That 62 year old is amazing! I am in my 50s and I am not that limber! Actually, my 77 year old mom is more active than me! I would love to try pole dancing classes. I am going to look around if there is any near where I live.

    Absolutely! I’ve been pole dancing for over a year now and it’s very addicting to see the progress one makes. It’s incredibly rewarding to see yourself in the mirror nailing moves you never though you could!

  55. I burst out laughing when I saw your headline as it brought back memories of me taking up pole dancing at 43 years old or so. Suffice it to say, I did not last the whole sessions. I still cannot get up on a pole but I really loved the experience.

    I have done a little pole… I actually hate the “dancing” aspect of it, but love the fitness aspect of it. I’m completely happy to do specific things that someone teaches me, but if they’re like “okay dance go” I’m just like what how I don’t know how to dance what do I do.
