No matter how you look at it, there is only one way to spell SIN! So why are we selective when it comes to this word?

Sin

Sin Selection

I am concerned about the fact that so many persons seem to be selective in the kinds of sins that can be forgiven.  Sometimes it even seems that persons are selective in the kinds of sins that should be forgiven.   This is very dangerous territory for any of us and should anyone of us be guilty, then we need to desist.

What do I mean?

It’s amazing how quick some persons are at forgiving certain atrocities when someone has decided to give their life to God; to turn over a new leaf so to speak.   However I have noticed that many persons look on with suspicion when someone claims to be delivered from other things.

Is it that we are saying that God is not able to forgive this person?

Is it that we do not believe in the power of salvation?

Seven deadly sins on crossroads sign arrows.

Nobody is saying these things outright but our actions tell another story, and trust me actions speak way louder than words.   May we all look into our selves and seek to see where we fall short in this regard.   Acknowledge what we are really thinking and seek to do better.  Ask yourself if you were the person on the other end how would you like to be treated.

Have we forgotten that if the son therefore shall make you free, then you are free indeed?

If God has forgiven that individual, how dare you hold past trespasses against that person.   Our job is to love one another and pray for each other.   The position for Assistant Manager to God is not open, will never be open and was never open so let us focus on what we are here to do instead.

  1. You couldn’t have said it better. Some Christians have become self appointed judges measuring the weight of different sins. Sis is sin and it is all wrong in the sight of God.

  2. Sasha says:

I agree with you. How we act and how we treat others speaks much louder than what we say we believe. If we believe that God is able to forgive than we must trust that He will. Sometimes we are the ones that needs a change of heart.

  3. oh if we would only do what He asks us to do – and NOT what WE think WE should do

  4. To add to that Fashionable Librarian it is seen where your point is justified with many Christian’s look at persons who have sex outside of marriage as being sinful and the many who takes money out of the Church’s coffers as emblezzment of money and not stealing, neither will they admit that the individual has committed a sin in their eyes. 1. He might can pay it back little little
    2. It will all be forgotten in short order by those in the know
    3. Whole heap of excuses will be made that he has fallen on hard times and these things happen.

Finally the good books says “Judge not lest he be judged” do you remember this famous Religious Minister Jimmy Swagger who continued to preach in about people committing sexual sins and in the end it was found out her too fell from grace and lost his entire flock and his marriage……

  5. As far as I am concern “Sin” is spelt only one way and our Lord doesn’t look and say this sin deserve a higher punishment/forgiveness based on the type of sin and how and who committed the sin. If that were the case many persons within the world would not be alive to tell the tail or even repent for the sins they have committed. But based on New Testament Theology we are saved by Grace so when our Lord died all sins have been forgiven and are still being forgiven once we acknowledge our sins and seek forgiveness…… In the end it all boils down to your level of theological reasoning why you would believe that their are different types sin…..

    • If a person really knows God and is connected to God then I believe they would not still be categorizing sin. It is a dangerous game to play because the same people they areturning up their nose at may very well end up in the place where they thought they would go. We are mandated to love one another and I cannot understand why we cannot focus on that. SIGH

  6. Indeed! It comes down to how we are really seeing others. Do we see others in the Truth of who they are, or, do we allow the sins of others to claim and cloud the vision of seeing them as who they are in Christ? One of these views actually has the power to transform; whereas, the other has the power to condemn.
